“Together in the Battle”

“Together in the Battle” was a poem that I specifically wrote as an opening poem for Christ blog. I also included it in my first post titled "7 Powerful Examples of Biblical Encouragement." I created it to go along with the tagline for Christ blog "Where Iron Sharpens Iron" and the biblical encouragement theme of my first blog post.

Together in the battle
with our armor and our sword,
we stand against the enemy
as soldiers of the Lord.

But our adversary Satan
has an army of his own,
all roaming to and fro
through this earth, they have enthroned.

Prowling like a lion
and seeking to devour,
the devil will stop at nothing
until his final hour.

To rob our souls from Jesus
is the plan he does foresee,
but as long as we resist him
the Bible says he'll flee.

But iron sharpens iron
so we'll battle if we must,
from the refuge of our fortress
with the God in whom we trust.

If we hold our faith in Jesus
and from His word we never stray,
no weapons formed against us
will prosper anyway.

So we'll strengthen one another
with the Word of God we know,
and “Together in the Battle”
we'll defeat our evil foe.
