Please Mr. President

"Please, Mr. President" was a poem that I wrote way back in June of 1994. Having a heart for the homeless in America, I came up with the idea of a homeless man writing a letter to the president and pleading for help. Note: this poem was written in my BC days (before Christ) before I knew the Lord.

Please, Mr. President, I'm asking for your time.
My home is in an alley, in a city full of crime.
I know you're really busy, with a million things to do.
Our countries full of problems, and the burdens all on you.

But if you'll only listen, to what I have to say
I'll speak for all the homeless, in America today.
Some of us have risked our lives, for our country brave at war.
We gave our limbs and lost our minds, never knew what for.

Some of us have been through school and used to have a lot.
But then somehow our lives were robbed, by someone who did not.
Some of us have lost our kids, now sorrow fills their heart.
They can't understand our struggling world, or why we had to part.

After months of cold and hunger, one's wisdom will enhance.
Our mistakes will be a lesson learned if given one more chance.
So please Mr. President we need your helping hand,
please help us get back on our feet, in any way you can.

For if you do, the joy you'll feel
will seldom be compared.
And in our hearts, you will always be
the president who cared!
